Mount Mayon – The World’s Most Perfectly-Formed Volcano

Mayon Volcano is one of the most popular active volcanoes in the world because of its almost symmetric conical shape. It has become a main tourist attraction in Albay Province. Rising at 2,462 meters (8,077 ft), its world renowned summit is visible from nearly all cities and towns in the province, during clear cloudless days. Because of its beauty, Mayon Volcano has also been dubbed as one of the natural wonders of the world.

The volcano covers a base circumference of 62.8km (40mi) and is shared by the cities and municipalities of Legazpi City, Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan, Ligao City, Tabaco City, Malilipot, and Santo Domingo, very much like slices of a pie when viewed from above.

Siargao Island – The Surfing Capital of the Philippines

Located on the northeastern part of Mindanao is Siargao Island, a tear-drop shaped island facing the Pacific Ocean and the Philippine Deep. It is one of the many islands that comprise the province of Surigao del Norte.

Because of the huge waves rolling on its shores, which can reach up to nine feet high, Siargao became an instant hit among international and local surfers. One of the island’s most popular surfing wave is known as “Cloud 9″ which can be found in the town of General Luna where the annual Siargao Cup, a domestic and international surfing competition sponsored by the provincial government of Surigao del Norte is held every September.

The Manila Ocean Park – The Philippine’s First Oceanarium

The Manila Ocean Park is a marine-themed complex which includes an oceanarium, hotel, resort, mall, events center, spa, snow village, animal shows and many other attractions. It is located in the heart of Manila, just behind the Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park.

The oceanarium is home to 10,000 marine species indigenous to the Philippines and Southeast Asia. It covers an area of 8,000 square meters (86,000 sq ft) and features a curving 25-metre (82 ft) underwater acrylic tunnel which offers an amazing underwater view of sea creatures and their habitat.

Located on the eastern shore of the island of Palawan is Honda Bay, one of the southwestern Philippines best tourist destinations. The beaches along Honda bay feature clear blue waters and fine white sand while the landscape is characterized by lush rainforests and breathtaking rock formations. Rizal Park: A Major Philippine Tourist Landmark

Originally called Bagumbayan during the Spanish period, Rizal Park, or colloquially Luneta because of its half-moon shape, is a historical urban park in the heart of Manila City in the Philippines. It is adjacent to another historical attraction, the walled city of Intramuros. Since the Spanish Colonial Era until today, the park has remained a favorite venue for unwinding, socializing, and spending time with the family especially during weekends and holidays. It is one of the major tourist attractions in Manila.

The park is home to several structures and sculptures including the Rizal Monument, a massive sculpture honoring the Philippines’ national hero, Dr. Jose, Rizal. The monument was designed by Swiss sculptor Richard Kissling and remodeled by national artist Juan Nakpil. Below the monument is a mausoleum where the remains of Rizal are laid to rest. It is guarded round-the-clock by a pair of Kabalyeros de Rizal (Knights of Rizal). The monument is one of the most recognized landmarks in the country.
